We had booked a table by email, since it was not possible to reach the restaurant by phone. When I got there, I had to wait quite a while as three out of four staff were busy helping two young men buy popsicles. Finally, I alerted them that I was standing there and that I had booked a table. I was told that it was she out there pointing who was the maitre d ' and that I had to wait. The maitre d ' came in eventually and looked at the bookings. She pointed out that I only booked a table for 6 people, but that it would probably be fine with 9 anyway. I kindly said that I had received confirmation by email from the restaurant that I had changed the number of guests from 6 to 9. It was met with silence. Since the entire restaurant was empty, we could choose a table. We asked if we could add a table set for two, since there were so many of us, but were told no. No one sat down at that table during our entire lunch. We had to move the table around ourselves so that everyone had a seat, and then point out that we needed more cutlery/glasses, as well as open the windows and balcony door to bring in cool air. It took a very long time to order and to get first drinks and then food. They forgot orders and had to be reminded several times. Finally we went to the bar ourselves to find out where the drink had gone. Food: We tried to get bread in before the food, as we were all very hungry by this point, but were told that Fejan doesn 't serve bread ? . We tried to order an appetizer, but it was out of stock, so we had to choose something else. When the food did arrive, it was generally good, except for the vegetarian grilled cabbage which was seriously undercooked and not very good. Cleanliness: On our table was a half-withered geranium that previous guests had used for trash. I pointed this out to a waitress who looked completely bewildered. The pot was left with rubbish in it when we left. Tables in the dining room that had soda bottles and coffee cups on them when we arrived were still not cleared when we left. All the windowsills were full of dead insects. The potted plants were wilted. The toilet had wet toilet paper on the floor and was unclean. The overall impression was that the restaurant had no proper management. The staff seemed to have received no training in hospitality. Perhaps they were too inexperienced to take initiative and understand and see what needed to be done. The impression was also that they felt they had so many guests that it didn 't matter if some were dissatisfied, new ones always come. It also seemed like they were in the final stages of the season we were there on August 1st and that they couldn 't put in the effort anymore. The location is fantastic, the food generally good, but service and cleanliness is bad. One would expect a higher standard in their price range.
Great food and a great location. Must be experienced first hand. If you find yourself in Sweden, make sure to find time to visit this little gem.
You must come on boat to this place. Food is good, basic well cooked and not pretentious. Service is nice, sometimes a bit slow. Wonderful surroundings and a great trip to get here from wherever you start your trip. Highly recommended actually on of the better places in the archipelago – trust me I have tried most – but pricy. A dinner can easily cost 6-800 SEK per person.
Even though it's a bit late to give a review as the restaurant will close for the season within a couple of weeks I just have to give it my best rewards. It's really worth a visit as the food, the service and the location is just fantastic. And on top the journey to get there as the restaurant is located in the outer parts of the Stockholm archipelago. I've been there 2 times this season both for lunch and dinner and the experience was very good both times.
