One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Connecticut. 10/10.
Thrilled that this great spot has reopened! Wonderful service and creative small plates.
Very cozy place. Great, creative food and very reasonably priced.
My daughter and I checked out Verdura after she picked me up at the airport. The restaurant is tucked into a little shopping plaza with what look like a Chinese restaurant, a bottle shop and a Korean rolled ice cream shop. It was a quiet night at Verdura. There was only one other table with diners and I think that they were doing a tasting for a wedding reception. It was probably a good thing that the night was quiet, because there was only one person working in the front of house. Fortunately, she was excellent. There were only about a dozen tapas choices on the menu that ranged from $6 to $18. We did the 8 for $80 special. I 've been trying to cut down on taking photos of my food and just focusing on tasting it, so I have only one photo, which is of the bacon wrapped Brussels sprouts. I only took the photo because it was National Blueberry Day, and the sprouts were served on a blueberry horseradish sauce that was tart and tangy. We really enjoyed the fried asparagus, which was encrusted with panko breading. I normally consider panko breading to be too heavy, but it was perfect on the asparagus because it provided structure to it, in addition to crunchiness. The sautéed sherry wild mushrooms were good, but I prefer dry-sautéed mushrooms to sauced mushrooms; it 's partly a textural preference for me. The sherry also added a touch of sweetness, but I prefer mushrooms to be slightly salty. The saffron steamed littleneck clams were fragrant and tasty. My daughter drank the sauce out of the bowl after we ran out of bread. The smoked pork belly PBJ was a nice change of pace from the usual super soft and tender braise. As advertised, it was a firmer, perfectly smoked piece of BBQ. To me, the only unexceptional dish was the tequila sautéed shrimp. They were served on a slice of sweet potato with a thin slice of soppressata and slivers of garlic, and the combo just didn 't work for me. The brisket and roasted root vegetable was quite good. I would enjoy it for breakfast. Finally, the marinated lamb lollipops were excellent, although they 're served only three to an order. The accompanying lime and mint vinaigrette was really good, too. My daughter claimed the third one, so I lost out. I hope that Verdura flourishes and expands its options for tapas. I 'm looking forward to tasting more.
