Sunshine - Grand Bend

This place came highly recommended. The owner is very friendly the food was cooked fresh and came very hot. However it was very flavorless. The red sauce also has no flavour and likely come from a can. Too bad.... but we were disappointed.

Sunshine Restaurant has one of the best Chinese food we have ever eaten. The atmosphere is awesome and the owner Johnny is the most friendly person I have ever met. The only unfortunate thing I have to say is that the poor guy is doing everything by himself. He needs wait staff and kitchen help so he is hiring. Doing it by hisself Johnny is doing an amazing job and all who go there are very patient.

This restaurant is a few minutes drive from grand bend but is amazing family owned they have one in lucan ont and this one and the food is very tasty and large portions

This was our first visit. We were looking forward to this new Chinese Restaurant. They have a second location in Lucan.The location is slightly remote but then again reasonably close to Grand Bend, Zurich, Exeter etc.. It is right across the Hwy from Bayiew Golf. Drive slowly as you approach to avoid missing it especially coming from the South. There is ample parking.The interior is essentially cottage like being a conversion by a prior establishment. There is seating for about 30 people. There is currently little decor that evokes the Chinese menu except a few lanterns. That I expect will change.Our waitress was a very helpful and delightful server. The owner/cook often visits the dining room to help out. It is very much in the family style. It is a relaxed atmosphere and casual dress is the norm. All ages will like it here.The menu is extensive. It is primarily Chinese but the obligatory Western food is available for the fussy or traditional eater. The are many individual dishes to choose from. The focus however is on the typical Dinners for 1 to 6 and a nice choice of 5 Combination meals said to be for one person. The portions are however HUGE! The combos cover a full size plate and are minded high. Most patrons had been warned but it was still a surprise to most judging by the "Oh mys" and "wows" overheard at most tables. Take home boxes are a part of every meal at Sunshine.The food was quickly prepared and steaming hot. Our experience with the food was mixed. The chicken balls were large but overly breaded to our taste. The sweet and sour sauce was canned. Yet the Won Ton soup and beef with black bean sauce were very good. I think the cooking style has been influenced by the Lucan clientele. You may need to pick and choose. I would go with one of the combos over the dinner for one.

Believe me when I say that giving Wok Box 2 stars upset me a lot.
