Runza - Grand Island

This was my first experience trying a Runza, and it was fantastic! It's truly Nebraska's best-kept secret!

The restaurant offers runzas and fast food. Both the food and service were average; nothing particularly distinguished itself as being above the norm.

The food was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. The cheerful and friendly woman at the counter last night at 5:45 truly made my experience memorable. Thank you for your warm smile!

Having been almost 40 years since I last enjoyed an original Runza—Nebraska's signature meat and spice sandwich baked in a bun—I found myself right across the street from a Runza location, feeling hungry and eager to see if it lived up to my memories. I was delighted to discover that it tasted just like I remembered from years ago. It was definitely worth stopping by for a Runza or any of their other delicious sandwiches. However, I did find the service a bit slow, despite there only being four other customers in the restaurant and likely twice that number of staff. I had to wait several minutes at the counter on two occasions after picking up my order. If there had been a bell, perhaps someone would have noticed me as they hurried around.

I absolutely love Runza! Their cheese Runzas are fantastic—a genuine Nebraska classic! Plus, their fries are the only ones I really enjoy. You should definitely try a "fring" (fries and onion rings) because their onion rings are the only ones I ever order too!
