But when out of curiosity I consulted the menu I was less than impressed because it contains at least a dozen spelling and grammar errors. Mostly in the Spanish versions, but also in the English. I hope that if/when they print a new one or update the online version they take a lot more care and get someone to proofread it. So many mistakes give a very poor initial impression.
This is the first time I’ve ever written a review for literally anywhere but I’m still amazed and confused by the experience we had here. This is our second time trying to eat here (last summer the owner went on vacation without updating hours on the Facebook page or on the Google Business profile). We tried again today (after checking Facebook and Google to make sure they were open) and when we arrived, there was no indication on the sign at the end of the driveway that the business was closed. So we pulled in and a gentleman (I assume the owner’s spouse) rode over on an ATV, hopped off, came over to us with no mask on, and told us that if we were “here for her, she’s closed today” because she’d decided to take the day off. I don’t know if they’d had other people pull in that day who had been hostile about the food truck being closed, but he was clearly ready for an altercation because he was pretty aggressive right off the bat (and I’ve worked in customer service and become pretty hardened to this sort of thing so I’m confident I didn’t imagine it). Before we’d even said anything (except “oh no!” because we’d driven 16km for this and had checked their hours and Facebook updates multiple times), he started giving us a mini-lecture about how “she works more hours than anyone” and “she deserves it”. We never said or implied that she didn’t and it was a very strange thing to share with strangers. He also pointed out the yellow A4 sheet stuck under the windshield wiper on the truck that said “closed today”, which was taped under massive colourful printed letters that said “Open Tues-Sun 1-7”. It was Sunday at 4:00. Then he told us that she was “maybe thinking about” reopening at 5:00. It was 4:00 at this point so we just left. I don’t think we’ll be trying again next year.
Very delicious, Jen is so friendly. Highly recommend. We had fish tacos, taquitos and nachos.
