Fish Lads - Grand Rapids

My friend and I had lunch here for the first time, and we really enjoyed the fish and chips. It was a delightful experience, especially thanks to Liam, who served us.

I went to Fish Lads after Whole Foods had sold out of Branzino, and I managed to find it in stock there. However, my experience was less than satisfactory. I waited at the counter for several minutes before a staff member finally came out from the back. Instead of assisting me right away, he started a conversation with a colleague while I continued to wait. When he saw another customer, he approached them to ask if they needed help, prompting me to speak up and say, "Excuse me, sir, I've been waiting here." He finally came over to assist me, but his demeanor was cold and indifferent. For the prices they charge for seafood, I expected more courteous service. To top it off, he didn’t even wish me a good day. Overall, it felt like bad business.

I regret to say that I must give this restaurant a low rating. If it were possible to give negative stars, I would. First and foremost, the service at the counter is quite disappointing. It’s so lackluster that even a college mascot would struggle to grab attention. More importantly, the seafood offered here is hardly fresh or of good quality. The odor coming from the products is unbearable, the selection hardly ever changes, and the prices seem to have an outrageous 300% markup for the quality provided. I strongly advise you to stay away from this place. Yuck.

Food taste OK, but I think I got food poisoning after eating there. That evening I was in bed and stayed in bed or in the bathroom all the next day. That was awful, and I never have issues with my stomach. I ordered the grilled fish and they didnot have the side of bacon hash but it was still listed on the board. They also did not provide ANY alternate or discount. Theservice was terrible to say the least. Very rude lady that works there. I will never go back there.

The actual quality of fish was great. Had to wait for several minutes to even get someone to take our order despite it not being super busy but other than that, no complaints.
