Golden Star Restaurant - Grande Prairie

Growing up in GP, the Golden Star was THE best restaurant everIt was where we went to celebrate basically anything.

We've been with this restaurant for a few years and generally its been the same order every time.

In all the years I have been eating Chinese food and doing so in over100 restaurants I have never had Fried Rice this bad

We had to check the door as we weren't sure if it was open for lunch, lots of construction nearby, service was friendly & prompt, many dish selections, lots of seating, offered carry out as we ordered more than we could eat...

I grew up in GP, left 45 years ago and have only returned for special occasion since. I remember the Golden Start from my sister’s high school graduation dinner. The décor hasn’t changed much in those 42 years. My experience of the restaurant this time was overall pleasant. The food with the exception of the birds nest was good – well prepare with fresh ingredients. The bird’s nest dish was greasy – definitely not worthy of in designation of a Golden Star special. My only real complaint is the way I was force to exit. I’m in a wheelchair and instead of putting a ramp out as they had on my arrival - they solicited the help of a stranger and carried me and my wheelchair down the few steps to the street. It was demeaning. I hope from my comments the restaurant will think twice before subjecting someone else in a chair to this type of treatment.
