RIVA Waterside Restaurant and Bar

The restaurant we had planned to visit had closed down, which was a huge disappointment and wasted journey. We took time off work for this visit, so it was very frustrating. Please remove it from your listing.

Only for drinks food was ok the salad was far too expensive and it took far to long to come.

Would never recommend poor food no atmosphere and very rude staff

Our booking made through Opentable wasn’t showing on the system. After 15 minutes of waiting we had to ask to order the restaurant was not busy. Starters were fair. Mains were disappointing. We ordered a Brownie for dessert as we had seen it on the online menu. A chocolate tart arrived with no explanation. On query it was explained the menu had changed... Our mistake, but we could have been told Brownies were no longer on the menu rather than being served something we didn’t ask for! To top off the evening the fire alarm was set off by the smoke machine in the adjoining bar can’t blame the restaurant for this but it rounded off a poor evening nicely! The restaurant is in a great location and could be fantastic if the issues with food and service are ironed out.

Having visited the venue before having had good food and service we decided to revisit, wrong move, this time we found the service and staff very disjointed and slow, the menu being very basic. When we arrived we chose a bottle of wine only to be told by another staff member they had run out then we went to order a second bottle of what we had during the meal only to be told we have run out. To add to this one of our party ordered Halibut which was very dry and chewy and another person in our party ordered Bread and Butter pudding which when served was covered inside with chocolate chips and not the normal dried fruit. There was no mention in the menu it had chocolate in it because if it had it wouldn't have been chosen due to not liking chocolate desserts. This could be very dangerous as one of our nieces who fortunately wasnt with us is allergic to chocolate due to some containg nuts . Our overall experience was very disappointing for the price we paid and it dampened our birthday celebration. Also one of our party was only drinking and it appears we were charged £5 for the privilege. The only saviour was the entertainment and view.
