The Sushi Sashimi Combo was fantastic! It was plenty to share between two people, or a satisfying meal for one hungry person. We also tried the pork, along with the gyoza and coconut shrimp appetizers. I highly recommend it!
We are the traveling Motor Coach Gourmets. We frequent restaurants in many different cities and review them. Our ratings are as fair as we can make them as our reviews and yours can also impact a business owner. If we can’t give a 4 or 5 star review, or we don’t care for the service or food, we hold our review and give the place in question a 2nd and 3rd try. If after that, still not to our liking, then we rate the establishment. We are vacationing in Greenport and there are limited area restaurants that are not tourist traps or just bad food. It was a nice surprise to enter Sakura. The waitress seated us promptly and was very attentive. Water was brought promptly as we were quite thirsty. We ordered and the soup and salad were brought quickly. The soup was delicious; the word excellent comes to mind. The salad was equally as delicious. Both were indeed very, very good. I ordered a lobster roll plus an order of tuna sushi and Tracy ordered chicken tempura. I also ordered a couple of specialty sauces which came on time prior to my meal which was nice to see. The waitress as was previously mentioned, was very attentive. Anyway, the tuna sushi was very good as was the lobster roll but I thought the roll had a tad too much rice. The chicken tempura was also very good but we thought it had too much breading. There was plenty to eat. Overall a pleasant meal. I would rate this place a 4 star restaurant if it were in a large city but being it’s in a one horse town and the only sushi restaurant, we’ll give it 5 stars. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Sakura consistently delivers five-star meals, as evident from my recent experience (featured: Sushi for two on 8-22-20), three years after my initial review. The sushi is incredibly fresh and generously portioned, and the soup salad is just right. It truly offers the best value on the North Fork. Thank you!
Outstanding sushi at great prices! The ambiance is a bit lacking, but that’s more than made up for by the consistently friendly and modern service, as well as the delicious sushi. I've visited a dozen times and I'm here right now—each visit feels like a steal. The Vegas Roll, in particular, gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Honestly, compared to other local options, this place is hands down the best. There’s no need to spend $15 on a simple tuna roll when you can get so much more here! Located right downtown on Front Street, it stands out among the many overpriced restaurants. This place is a gem amidst a sea of mediocre eateries that seem to forget we’re not in Manhattan! Greenport can have its pretentious and greedy side, but this spot is the perfect antidote—offering delicious, healthy food at reasonable prices. The service is great, and you won't find any fake fireplaces here to inflate your bill. Highly recommended!
