As reported by other reviewers it also inexplicably came with slaw on it. Fine, but just unexpected because not what’s on the menu. The slaw (tasted as a side, not from on the sandwich) tasted slightly fermented. Fries were unremarkable frozen fare without any seasoning/salt. Mac and cheese was okay, would have been much better if served hotter and the thick covering of previously-melted cheddar not so solidified. The fried chicken was fine and indeed served very hot unlike the sides. All in all about the quality and atmosphere of a fast food joint but more cramped and with prices more like a full-service restaurant. I ate at a table with the food ordering line crowding through right next to me and took in the view out of the windows covered with poorly applied plastic sheets of window tinting. I had high expectations wanting to try this place, and I’m sorry to eviscerate it, but just NO. Never again. I’d recommend Dames Chicken Waffles if you like this sort of menu, or just Bojangles for a superior dining experience.
We laughed about dining in a fast-casual restaurant and awaited our food. To our surprise, the mac and cheese bites arrived before anything else. The timing was impressive, but the taste was even better, and they were only $5.00! They were sizable—about 2” x 2.5” and 1” thick—perfectly baked and fried to a crispy, golden brown. We devoured them quickly, losing track of whether we had 7 or 8 pieces. The inside was packed with creamy macaroni and cheese, and the side of ranch dressing was a nice touch. I glanced at my sandwich and potato salad while we waited for our main meals. When our food finally arrived, I was so taken aback by the size of my chicken strips that I gasped and covered my mouth, prompting a laugh from the owner. These should not even be called "strips"; "Lunkers" would be a more fitting name! My husband tried one, and I had only two, leaving me with three to take home. Each strip weighed a hefty 6 ounces, so my math tells me I got about 2 pounds of boneless roasted chicken for just $10! The fried okra was lightly battered, perfectly crispy on the outside, yet tender and creamy on the inside. We will definitely be coming back! The service and food were top-notch! I was in the mood for fried chicken but thought, "Why would I want to make a mess in my kitchen, coating every surface in flour and risking burns when I can get it from here?" Instead, I’ll just Google and Yelp for great fried chicken places. We ordered our meal to-go, picking two of the double fried 4-piece meals, which was just $1.00 more than an 8-piece, plus we got an extra side. Be prepared to wait 20-25 minutes for fresh food; they also offer an option for extra spicy sauce or dips. We chose the honey sriracha dip on the side. We also needed a "relationship saver item" (RSI), which is something we share on the way home to avoid any arguments. We got the spicy chicken sandwich, which was really spicy! The brioche bun was perfect, the chicken was large, and it came with bread-and-butter pickles, which were a clever flavor addition. My mouth was on fire, so I’m not sure I would order it again, but my husband certainly would. Even after a 25-minute drive home, the chicken was still crispy. The bun was flavorful and slightly sweet, and the chicken was well-seasoned without being salty. It was so good that none of us even touched the honey sriracha dip. The 4-piece meal comes with one breast, wings, thighs, and a side. I ordered mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw. Both sides were highly recommended in reviews and absolutely lived up to the hype! They were clearly homemade and delicious. My husband loved the coleslaw. We will definitely be returning! The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and it’s well worth the journey and wait. After all, it’s much better than I could make at home!
I ordered two pieces of dark meat chicken with sriracha honey sauce, green beans, fries, coleslaw, and banana pudding. The coleslaw was among the best I've ever had; it had a delightful flavor. The green beans were prepared with garlic, making them incredibly tasty. The fries were fresh and delicious on their own; they had a wonderful flavor, and whether they were fresh or frozen, they tasted like they had just been cut and fried. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly. It had the right amount of crispy texture and crunch without being greasy, which made it absolutely delicious. I need to check if they have a location in Winston-Salem so I can treat my pups to more fried chicken instead of going to Bojangles before we head home. The banana pudding was also tasty, and my pup enjoyed it too. Overall, everything was fantastic! It was an amazing experience!
I went out to eat with a friend, so I can't comment on the actual location, but the food was phenomenal. The chicken sandwiches were amazing and quite generous in size. The macaroni and cheese bites were delicious and definitely worth the five dollars—also a good portion. The chicken was very fresh and not small at all. The three-part meal deal was fantastic. I'm very satisfied with our lunch choice today and will definitely consider this place for almost any meal in the future!
Delicious. this place has surpassed my expectations! everything was very crispy and well spiced! I'm not an NC-local, but I'll be back!
