The Monkey Bar Cafe - Greenslopes

I dined at this restaurant last Saturday, March 7th. Our group of 11 was seated upstairs. Unfortunately, when my tea arrived, it was lukewarm and I had to go downstairs to get hot water for my pot. The mint and pancakes that I and my son ordered were also lukewarm when they arrived. Despite the long wait, I didn't feel like going back downstairs to complain. The service was chaotic, with our meals being served at different times and dirty plates not being cleared promptly. Pigeons were even swooping in to eat scraps off our table. The food was so cold by the time we finished eating that it was uncomfortable. My son complained that his pancakes had sat out for so long that they absorbed all the syrup and tasted bland. Another member of our group received an avocado smash that was just cut avocado, not at all what was expected. One person had to wait a long time for her meal, which was missing the avocado component. She ended up eating alone as the rest of us had finished. We had to ask a waiter to remove our plates due to the presence of pigeons and flies. Despite our complaints to the waiter, the overall experience was very disappointing.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant last week. I had made a reservation for 11 people, and while all orders were placed at the same time, the meals were delivered in a random and delayed manner. Some people had already left to take their children to the playground by the time their food arrived. The Avocado Smash dish was not as expected, with the avocado being served separately from the other ingredients. The savory mint and pancakes were served cold. The big breakfast I ordered, which was supposed to come with avocado and halloumi, arrived an hour after another table's big breakfast and was missing the avocado. I saw another review this morning that mentioned similar issues, so I understand that there may have been some large bookings causing delays. However, if the restaurant cannot handle the capacity, they should not accept reservations.

Such a shame that the poor service spoiled our experience as this café is in such a beautiful place. We had booked for a family group. The staff seemed to completely lose our orders. My son waited one and a half hours for his children's meal, my nephew had to go without eating because it took so long until food came. We have eye roles from the staff. Disappointed is an understatement.

My friend beat Monkey Bar Cafe for a pickup and I can see why. She has 3 children and there is an adventure playground right next door! The café is unique by being located right in the middle of the suburb of Greenslopes, from the...Capital Center, where the cafes are and is attached to Annerley Junior Football Club. I thought the GPS took me to the wrong place, but unfortunately no. It is a nice little café that is very busy with families on weekends, but still has a relaxed atmosphere. You can sit up and eat, look over the football field, but you order below. There are parking spaces nearby. The food and coffee were good, I gave my eggs Benny with bacon the thumbs up.

The service was poor, food was terrible, most of barely ate what was on our plate, meals came out 20 minutes apart, shame because the location is great. Lack of communication with meals, they were too lazy to make chips and instead gave me a...harsh brown with my BLT and they never bothered to tell me until I asked the waitress when the meal was brought.
