It is simply delicious. I cannot get enough of it. Another major benefit to the cuisine is the abundance and quality of the chips and salsa. I have never had better salsa at any other restaurant. The food at this establishment puts all other Mexican food in Greenville to miserable soul-crushing shame. The staff at Mazatlan are charming, courteous, and lovely. The owner Rico, a horse-riding legend in Eastern North Carolina, frequently comes to check on all his guests. His infectious charisma and suave add an authentic flavor to the entire experience that cannot be beat. I could really write an entire book about how much I love Rico and his magnificent restaurant. If you claim to be a true Eastern North Carolinian and have not sampled from Rico’s wares, you are the most pitiful of liars. Support local business! Eat Mazatlan!!
This is the second time we have eaten here. This time we purposefully changed our plans so we could eat here. Now this is no exotic place to eat and when you do come and you will, you will sit down and wonder why you are here. It will all become clear after you eat. The service is good. Attentive and not hovering. What you.will remember is the food. I had the #11 combination dinner. A taco, a burrito, and an enchillada. My wife had beef tacos with rice and beans. The tacos are excellent. Not a taco explosion in the lot. The beers are cold and the food is excellent and there is plenty of it. Endless chips and salsa are wonderful too. This little hole in the wall is proof that you should never judge a book by it's cover! Enjoy!
After spending 14 years in Texas and New Mexico, and having the opportunity to travel to Mexico, I've learned one important thing: avoid big chain restaurants if you're seeking authentic cuisine. It's often challenging to find great food at reasonable prices, but this place truly delivers on both fronts! I ordered the Quesadilla Jalisco with rice and beans, and I enjoyed every bite. Many restaurants I've visited serve generic dishes with little flavor, but that’s not the case here. The customer service was exceptional, too. We were warmly greeted, quickly shown to our table, and our order was taken right away. The food arrived promptly, and the atmosphere was welcoming without the typical overbearing check-ins. It felt as though we were having dinner at a friend or family member's house. We'll definitely be returning!
One of our favorite dining spots! The portion sizes are just right, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. We give it a perfect five stars! My family and I love going there whenever we can. On our first visit, we accidentally locked our keys in the car. Without skipping a beat, the owner and a staff member came to our aid and had the keys out in five minutes. They shared a few laughs with us and even gave us a gift certificate for our next visit.
I accidentally ordered takeout on Cinco de Mayo, not realizing how busy it would be (definitely our mistake), but the food was still fantastic and well-prepared despite the rush. This was my second time dining here, and I continue to be impressed by the home-cooked flavors and quality; nothing feels generic about the dishes. We both enjoyed the New Mexico entree, which features steak, shrimp, onions, spinach, and more. It was delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly, unlike what I've experienced at other places. They even provided extra chips and salsa, which was a nice touch. I really appreciated the service, especially considering how hectic the night was.
