El Mariachi And Grill - Greer

We went for early dinner, 4pm, and the place was empty so great service. Margaritas were delicious, they bring bean dip with chips but also have a 'salsa bar ' with a variety of dips all good with a selection of heat. Food was authentic, well made, and tasty. We will return.

Service was great. Nice atmosphere. Staff was really nice. Food... Not bad...but not good. Everything was kind of salty and bland. The salsa simply has no spice at all and tasted like pureed tomatoes. I asked for sauteed or grilled vegetables in place of my rice (I can't eat rice) and was told it wouldn't be a problem but instead was served refried beans in the place of the rice. I will say that I had bell peppers and onions on my chicken, but the plate already had that included according to the menu description. I ended up only eating my overly salted chicken breast and nothing else. My husband's steak was seasoned well and was by far better than my plate, but still lacked something... not sure what... but something. Not a place I would return to next time we're in town. *Full disclosure* I did not mention anything to our waiter about being dissatisfied- he was so nice and prompt and we just chose to pay and leave.

I had been shopping alone and decided I wanted Mexican for dinner. But I didn't want to dine alone. I was in the parking lot at El Mariachi and decided to go in and get a to go order. I was hesitant, but went inside. The staff could not have been nicer. They gave me a menu and a place to sit where it wasn't obvious I was alone. I decided what I wanted, gave them my order, got my meal, paid my bill and was out in less than 15 minutes! So easy! And #10, my meal choice, was wonderful too. I won't hesitate to do that again!

The salsa tasted more like water with cilantro and salt. Since I usually enjoy covering my food in salsa when I eat Mexican cuisine, this really affected my dinner experience. I asked if they had any other options, but they brought out the same salsa, just with extra cilantro, and told me that was all they could do. It was quite disappointing.

We visited this restaurant a couple of months ago, and the service was extremely slow. The food was good, so we decided to give it another try today. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. The service is still painfully slow, and this time the food was terrible. It seems like they're struggling to stay afloat, and I would be surprised if they remain open much longer.
