Select Greer

We wanted to order a bottle of Riesling from the Mosel Valley, which was also available by the glass. When we requested to taste the wine before making our purchase, we were told that this wasn't allowed due to their policy. I questioned this and suggested that we could try the bottle, and if we didn’t like it, they could sell it by the glass. The server responded, “That’s not how we do things here, sir.” Unfortunately, the wine turned out to be sweeter than I expected, and I would have preferred to choose a different bottle that was $10 more. Management should take note of this ineffective sales approach. Overall, the food was good, but it felt overpriced for the quality. The panini was simply a roasted sandwich, not grilled as I had anticipated. The meats and sides were decent, but the descriptions were lacking, both in writing and verbally. It was also frustrating when they asked if we wanted more wine while we still had full glasses, and offered the dessert menu before we were even halfway through our meal. While we appreciated the charm of downtown Greer and recognize this may be one of the nicer restaurants, the overall experience didn't make us feel inclined to return or recommend it to others.

We made a special trip from East Tennessee for our second time visiting this restaurant. First visit was for anniversary and this time for wife's birthday. Excellent service and wonderful cuisine. I would highly recommend it for any special occasion. We love SELECT restaurant and the Greer community.

Our experience deteriorated further when she attempted to prevent us from sitting at the bar while we waited for our table. She pushed the chairs underneath the bar and stood there until another manager intervened and allowed us to sit down. At that moment, I was furious. We considered leaving, but I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of feeling like she had driven us away. Fortunately, we ended up sitting next to a wonderful couple, and they made the rest of the evening enjoyable, helping us forget the earlier negative experience. Our server, Rachel, was polite, but it felt somewhat forced. It’s disheartening to witness such behavior still happening in this day and age. Overall, while the food at Select was fantastic, the service needs significant improvement.

The best brunch spot in Upstate! We make it a point to go at least once a month and absolutely love it. It truly is the crown jewel of Greer.

This was my first time to Select after many recommendations from colleagues. First and foremost the food was delicious and service was spot on. Our waitress was attentive but never felt rushed to turn the table or absent when we needed anything. The value for what you spend is my only concern. $50-$75 for a steak is not what I would expect.
