My mom and I love the Cotswold café. We are here every Christmas for the Holiday Tea. Little finger foods are what is served and they are all incredible. The feeling that you get in the Cotswolds café is a very formal yet cozy vibe. I love when it's decorated for Christmas. My mom and I have been here every year for the past 10 years probably and it is one of my favorite traditions. My mom and I are always saying that one day, we will come in here on a day other than the Nutcracker tea day. I definitely recommend coming here... not just to this restaurant but to the Edsel Eleanor Ford mansion, in general. It is one of the most spectacular places I have ever been to and definitely the coolest place in St. Clair Shores. They are always having events and the grounds and architecture are unmatchable.
Our waitress, Tresa, said about ten words to us. Are you ready to order? Will this be it for you? . She never asked us if we wanted a beverage, she never filled our water glasses, the other waitress did. She never even asked us how our meal was. She pretty much completely ignored us. Very sad, as the other regular waitress there (Michelle? is excellent, but unfortunately we didn 't get her this time. It made for a very unhappy lunch. The food, unfortunately, has gone downhill as well. The chicken pot pie was not the same as it has been in the past. It used to have carrots greens with plenty of gravy but this time only some chicken, a few potatoes very little gravy. Honestly, I 've had frozen chicken pot pie that tasted better. The perch dinner with the mashed potatoes vegetables was cold, not to mention the fish was dry. The only thing hot was the soup. I 'm not sure if this place is under new management or if they got a new cook but we will not be returning until we hear changes are being made for the better. The location is gorgeous in our neighborhood (we 're lifelong Grosse Pointers so we will definitely visit the Ford house again but the restaurant... not so much.
We celebrated my bridal shower here, outside of the activity center in the large tent. I can't say enough how wonderfully amazing everything was ESPECIALLY the FOOD. Wow!!!!! The chef went above and beyond to not only serve the most excellent selections but he even catered to our special requests. The Monte Cristo sandwich was phenomenal. Everyone raved about the food and overall atmosphere. It couldn't have been any more perfect from the Mimosa Bar to the delicious array of salads, fruits, sandwiches... all of it. They honestly did an amazing job I have nothing negative to say. If you're interested in doing an outdoor bridal or baby shower brunch the Activity Center/Costwold Cafe is the place to have it!
Second time here in one year and it was BETTER this time around!! Beautiful location, on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe Shores, and a wonderful place to walk after dining. Nice selection of entrees and sides. They also have a beer and wine selection and take out!
