Feedback gevenWe were driving in the area looking for breakfast and we decided to come here. It's well known that it's a busy place and sometimes you have to wait for a table. We gave it a try. We got a table in minutes and our server Josh was very helpful and attentive. I ordered the avocado scrambler and my wife ordered a lite omelette. My son ordered a pancake. The coffee they serve is really good! Not sure where they get it but it's taste is one of the best coffees I've tried in this area. We waited no more than 10 minutes when we had our breakfast ready and OMG! My scramble was delicious! I also took a bite of my son's pancake and it tasted great! On my way out I ordered a cinnamon roll to go and they were sold out! Maybe next time...but we are coming back!
Came for the pie, which was awesome! Cherry-raspberry and banana cream pies were so good, crust was great too. Breakfast options were interesting and tasty; frittatas, scrambles, pancakes.
A decent place for Breakfast with a nice store front. Rykse's is probably one of the cleanest and best maintained breakfast places in the Kalamazoo/Portage area, especially considering how busy it is. It can be so busy that there can be a very long wait if you go during peak hours and an even longer wait if the staff is busy with a packed restaurant. The best thing about Ryske's is how nice it looks, but the food, unfortunately, falls flat for me. It's not bad but it's not amazing. It's okay. I had their french toast and you get a lot of it, but it was bland. They have a very standard and basic breakfast menu with all the classics, but they all sounded like things you could get anywhere else for much much cheaper. Overall, It's okay.
Place is clean. Food is simple but good. Staff can be a little stuck-up (this place is owned by a group of ultra-conservatives) but is overall polite. It 's annoying that they stop serving breakfast at some point in the morning, because places like this are usually only good for all day breakfast and also they are closed on Sunday. Their cinnamon rolls used to be amazing, but on my recent visit here (December 2016) they were dry with not enough frosting. I am wondering if they were old and/or they are trying to save money by using less frosting.
Probably better for breakfast than lunch and probably better as a bakery than a restaurant. For lunch I had the honey lime chicken sandwich with homemade chips and dip. The chicken was well prepared and the ingredients were fresh, but $12? For all intents and purposes this is a under-seasoned Panera lunch on a plate. Probably the two biggest criticisms would be price point and blandness. However, the chicken was really juicy so I give them credit for that. I got a gigantic cinnamon roll to go and that was excellent. So if you do stop in make sure to hit the bakery up for dessert.
