We have come away feeling quite unwell. We were ravenous and so ate our meals but on reflection it was very poor. We were the only people in the restaurant and the chef went home before we had finished. The service was fine but the food was poor. Both mains seemed to have been deep fried as both came out swimming in an in oil. The chicken skewers to start left an oil slick in their wake on the slate Mat!! The Thai curry was full of the same skin on chicken which looked to have been oil fried as well. The battered fish I had also oozed oil at every cut. The whole experience left us feeling very disappointed!! I have since looked at the food shown on Open table and they look lovely. Certainly not from the same kitchen or the current menu as far as I can tell. This was a belated Valentine dinner for us and it was not an experience to repeat!
Been here a few times now, and the standard has always been high. Definitely underused by non-residents so fairly quiet, but as a good English restaurant in the area, it should be better known.
Decor is a bit stark, but the food is good and the service friendly.
The food was very good, fresh, tasty and high quality ingredients. Not a large choice but a good spread of options. The dining room was uncluttered and stylish, with a beautiful garden. Service was timely and efficient, very welcoming. We will visit again.
