The Inglenook Seafood - Gwynedd

Despite conflicting reviews, we booked a table for 4. We were pleasantly surprised at the prompt service and quality of the food and drinks. The restaurant was about half full, and yes, the ambience could be improved with some background music. However, the staff were very attentive and curtious. All the seafood meals were delicious, with an excellent choice and good value. We would not hesitate to visit again.

Average seafood that flatters to deceive. Cash only. Deathly quiet, like eating in a church. Complete lack of ambience

Forgettable seafood. I had prawn salad (aka cocktail) to start and lemon sole as main. Both were uninspiring. Prawns could well have been frozen. Sole, normally a tasty fish, was watery. Had the home cooking feel in the sense that if I had a go at cooking these dishes at home this would be how they’d look. Place doesn’t take credit or debit cards. Bill handwritten. Amateur operation overall the promises more.

Menu straight forward cooking ,nothing fancy but nicely presented and served by polite and efficient waitress. Good value for money and I would certainly visit again when in Barmouth.

I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant from friends and was eager to try it out. Despite trying to call for a month, I couldn't get through, so I decided to make the 90-mile drive to visit in person. Upon arrival, I saw a sign in the window stating that the restaurant would be closed for a few weeks due to a family issue, with no indication of when it had closed or when it would reopen. It was disappointing as I had planned to surprise my partner for her birthday. Additionally, I'm unsure if the restaurant closes at the end of the season, meaning it may not be open again until next year. It's frustrating as there doesn't seem to be any certainty or clarity on when they will be open again.
