We were seated inside at the top of a set of rickety old wooden stairs due to the closure of the outdoor patio. The limited headroom and lack of condiments, cutlery, and basic table settings was disappointing. When we inquired about cutlery, we were informed that we had to retrieve it ourselves from downstairs. The lattes were served with a long spoon but no saucer, and there was no sugar available on the tables. The food was average at best, with the jacket potato being notably small and the side salad consisting of meager portions of bland, poorly prepared ingredients. While recognizing the challenges faced by businesses, we feel that more attention to detail is needed. Improving table presentation and minimizing the need for customers to repeatedly navigate the stairs would be a good place to start. It also appeared that there was a shortage of staff, contributing to the overall lackluster experience.
This quaint cafe in Aberdaron is a hidden gem. We decided to stop in for lunch on a whim while exploring the village. The sandwich was delicious and the coffee, although not as hot as I prefer, was still good. We enjoyed sitting upstairs in the eaves, despite being the only ones up there. The unique outhouse toilet was a bit hot and had a dripping cistern, but it added to the charm of the place. The stairs are steep and the ceilings low, so be cautious. Overall, I wouldn't make a special trip to Aberdaron just for this cafe, but if you find yourself in the area, it's worth a visit.
I was looking for a vegetarian cooked breakfast, but was told that the restaurant only served meat breakfasts. Instead, we were given the option of scrambled eggs on toast or fried eggs, with baked beans and/or tomatoes. Unfortunately, mushrooms and hash browns were not available. The scrambled eggs lacked flavor and the toast was dry and tasteless. The beans lacked flavor as well. The fried eggs were cooked unevenly, with one being overdone and the other underdone. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting for hours. It seemed like the restaurant didn't put much effort into their food, especially since they only catered to tourists.
Sit inside or out, dog friendly, the menu has something to suit most people’s requirements at a reasonable cost. The service and quality of food is quite good. Recommended.
Just being in this little old cafe is an experience, it radiates history in every stone. Cheerful friendly service and a good selection of food and drink. It is a joy to sit outside and watch the world go by.
