Feedback gevenWe had one night in Gympie and decided to stay at The Royal and eat at Rascals. The food was very good. Your typical pub fare done well. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The pub had a great atmosphere, it's obviously a popular spot for locals as it was very busy! Overall a good dining experience.
When staying in Gympie I came to Rascal's Restaurant for dinner one evening. I had one of the specials for the day (pumpkin lasagne for $12) + dessert + a glass of wine. This restaurant is part of the Royal Hotel in Mary St in the centre of Gympie. The food was very good, the staff were friendly and helpful, the service was very good and the prices were excellent.I heard from a friend who lives in Gympie, that one day someone complained about a woman breast feeding in the restaurant. The Royal's response was to ask the person who was complaining to leave if they were not happy. The Royal now displays a sign outside the door inviting breastfeeding mothers to come in, have a free cup of coffee if they wish with no obligation to buy anything while they are there.Well worth a visit if you are looking for an easy dinner while you are in Gympie.
Very nice meals, very plentiful. Staff friendly, clean and goid service. Good range of food. Family friendly.
Lunch here is great value , it's relatively easy to get to , parking is generally available close by , and the fare is better than pub average by a long way. Excellent value for your hard earned dollar !
After an exhaustive morning of visits , we wound up here , had seen it before and were aware of it's mixed reviews , but as the intrepid foodies that we are , always prepared to give every place a try.The place was reasonably busy , one of the FOH staff was talking to a couple who plainly wanted to book a function , so the order counter was not manned when we went to it , but , we were not in a hurry , so it gave us plenty of time to read the extensive specials board , as well as the standard menu.My wife chose the Coconut prawns entree and a Salad as a main , and I just went for a Chicken Parmy , with the request for a sprinkle of Parmesan on top of the Mozzarella.Place was filling up by now , and whilst the 2 serve staff were plainly very busy , they were friendly ,helpful & informative.Drinks are available at the bar , with a reasonable selection available. After doing that , our meals arrived about 10~15 minutes later , acceptable timing. The serve sizes are huge , plating a la bistro , but pretty good nonetheless. My wife loved the Coconut prawns , and then started on her Salad , declaring it to be well dressed and very tasty , with a good selection of fresh produce. My Parmy came with Chips & Salad , the Parly was huge , very well cooked, Napoli sauce , Ham & Cheeses , all perfectly grilled under the Salamander. So , I took my first bite , and was overwhelmed with nostalgia , it reminded me of a dish I would buy at the famous Station Hotel in Prahran , Vic. that always made my mouth water !The total combo of the moist chicken D/F , the ham ,Napoli sauce & the cheeses was the best I've eaten in QLD , I was stunned into silence , just kept eating !Minor critique was the chips needed about 15~20 seconds more in the D/F , then they would have been perfect. So , a very pleasant lunch break , look forward to another visit.
