Tasty House - Hacienda Heights

First up, the Spicy Stinky Tofu: I'm delighted to say they use real fried stinky tofu, tossed in a delicious hot sauce. Don't forget to order a bowl of rice to go along with it! Next, the Braided Pork Feet: these are cooked to perfection. The texture is wonderfully tender, with a chewy gelatinous skin complemented by a nice balance of sweet and spicy sauce. The Baked Seaweed Fish Fillets are another highlight – they come out crispy and golden on the outside, with delicate fish fillets inside. It's truly a fantastic dish, and I have no complaints about it! Finally, the Shanghai Rice Cake: while many restaurants offer this dish, it's rare to find rice cakes that are flavorful, soft, and not greasy. This is a great dish to evaluate a chef's skills.

Four stars overall. I've been here several times, and the food is consistently delicious. It can be a bit salty, especially the Crispy Fish Fillet, so just be sure to ask for less salt. They claim they don't use MSG or can't add it, but I’m not sure if it's a coincidence, but I always feel a bit sleepy afterward. I’ll need to visit again to confirm that. I would feel guilty giving it only three stars if I weren't honest. My family tends to order the same favorites every time we come: #81 $8.50 Shanghai Vegetable Pork Rice Cake (which is delightfully chewy), #122 $10.99 Crispy Fish Fillet with Seaweed (a family favorite), #8 $6.99 Seaweed Cucumber Salad, and #27 $7.50 Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (8 pieces).
