Urbanest Hoxton Cafe - Hackney

This is a fabulous independent cafe/restaurant that truly serves some beautiful home cooked food. There is a wonderful variety on the menu every day and it's a breath of fresh air compared to some of the big chain options down the road at the Old St roundabout. However the service and consistency could do with a bit of attention; there's often a very long queue at busy periods which is caused by confusion on when to pay for things. Some staff ask you to pay when ordering, some after your meal (but then you have to queue up twice). Sometimes food is brought to your table, sometimes you have to wait for it and carry it over to your table yourself. So it can be a bit of performance and you can end up waiting a while two times over. The table service is great, but it would be great to get this a bit more consistent.

If you're in the mood for a delicious, nutritious meal that tastes like it was cooked at home, I highly recommend this place. The staff is friendly and the range of dishes they offer daily is truly amazing. With so many options available in today's food scene, AMPM is truly a refreshing change. It's always a delight to dine here!

We came for breakfast and both had a fry up, food was ok but overall was fairly disappointed when the meal arrived. Asked where the hash browns were and was told they were coming soon, but we would’ve liked to have them with the breakfast not after. Also had no mushrooms and gave us a tomato instead neither of us like tomatoes hence why we paid £3 extra for the breakfast with mushrooms (which were described as ‘sauteed mushrooms’ what arrived after we asked was one portobello mushroom each. took a bite of the baked beans which were stone cold I hate to send food back normally and if they were lukewarm I would’ve let it go but they were inedible. The lady who served us was friendly and nice but I think so many things being wrong with the breakfast let them down.

I went in here for lunch and it was spectacular. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I heard they are looking at brining in some live music. This would be the icing on the cake for me. Highly recommended
