Commander's Room - Haines

Looks nice from outisde, but once in you 'll ask, why did I come here? Oh yeah, we were looking for some pkace to have a cocktail that wasnt dark and divey. Well , it wasn 't dark , but it wasnt mch else either. Though the place overlooks the water it was very stuffy and ugly!

This restaurant at the Halsingland Hotel in Haines, Alaska, has been closed for several years now. It was a wonderful spot for fine dining during the summer months. I truly miss it and hope it will reopen someday.

The food was only average, and the prices were quite high. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. I cannot recommend this restaurant. It seemed understaffed, and the staff members who were present were quite rude to our group. One server was slamming plates onto the tables and abruptly taking menus from us while we were still looking them over. I'd suggest avoiding this place.

I'm really sad to see that it's not open this year. I miss it so much... it was the best restaurant in town.

The T-bone steak was excellent, and the wine list is impressive. The staff is friendly, and the location is lovely.
