Impressions - Half Moon Bay

Panoramic ocean view on 2nd floor but water is a bit far. Table setting and service is good in general but not that impressive. However, quality of food is extraordinary! For the price less than half of what other fine dinning restaurants are charging, you can get a 3 course dinner and everything from our selections was just great!

French/Japanese fusion fixed price menu $59 per person; except when it’s not). $12 upcharge for beef and some other dishes. Small portions. One beef was good, the other was tough. Server was very nice. Hardly anyone there on a Friday evening. Last year was a different restaurant that was packed. Not going back.

Excellent quality and creative dishes fit for foodies. A great find for those who appreciate attention to every detail. The only annoying thing is the pricing — it is complicated and deceiving prix fixe meal dinners have added up charges that should be included in ONE price. Instead of $49, $59, $69, it should be more appropriately priced at $59, $69, $79.

I hosted two couples at Impression, including my wife myself and another couple. I chose the 5 course option and none of us were disappointed by the food. We all chose the same 3 appetizers, not understanding we could have chosen different ones and shared. The food was brilliant and delicious. We ordered two bottles of wine and could, perhaps, have benefited from some recommendations. I found the restaurant to a bit pricey, but the meal was delicious.
