Golden Fortune Restaurant - Halifax

We ordered takeout from this restaurant so I can't comment on the service, but the staff seemed friendly when I picked up the food on New Year's Eve. I really enjoyed the meaty egg rolls and the orange beef - my first time trying that dish. We ordered enough food for our group and the pineapple chicken and BBQ pork dish were both excellent. The chicken fried rice was also tasty and typical of Chinese restaurants. Overall, I prefer the Chinese Canadian style of cooking.

We visited Mai in Halifax while in town for a medical appointment. Due to COVID restrictions, we were limited in our dining options and opted to order our meal through DoorDash. The order was placed and delivered promptly. Unfortunately, our dining experience took a turn for the worse. We ordered a combo plate M and a combo plate L, along with some bark noodles and a sommee soup. The soup was mediocre at best, but the egg rolls were downright disgusting. They had a brown paste-like filling with an unpleasant smell and lacked any discernible flavor. The general tso chicken on one of the combo plates turned out to be bland popcorn chicken drenched in sweet and sour sauce and honey garlic sauce. The noodles were so sticky that they couldn't be separated on the plate. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food and reached out to the restaurant with our feedback, but received no response. Photos are attached.

Waitstaff are amazing and eating is always wonderful. fresh crispy veggies and large vegetable frits. yum

I go for Chinese food, they can even ask for the gluten-free menu with many options. they love the gluten-free orange bark meat, which is a coated bark meat in a delicious sauce. eating is fast consistent every time I order

My wife and I were tired travelling from a waiting room and parking. We decided to go to a local Chinese restaurant visited several times over the years. We were warmly greeted,offered any table and given a large and recently updated menu.We both ordered stir...fried mixed vegetarian plates,vegetable spring rolls,fried rice with vegetables.My wife had hot water and lemon and I Chinese tea.The food was delicious,the service attentive,pleasant and informed,the toilet was clean and the parking easy and in front. We also observed many call in orders. The portions were ample and we took home enough leftover food for another meal.
