The veggie combo comes with the choice of rice (lentil, curry or jollof) and the choice of three stews (cabbage, eggplant, black eyed peas, pumpkin and spinach or fried plantains). Portion is large and very reasonably priced for $12 for the combo plate. Staff are friendly and understand what veganism is.
Mary is a Jem! The vegetable plate can be selected from three different types of rice and several vegetables including eggplant stew. Recommend the spinach with pumpkin seeds.
The vegan options were decent; some dishes were fantastic while others were lacking. However, the beans were delightful, and the Injera bread was also excellent! This is an update based on my previous rating from August 12, 2022.
I've been there several times and have tried the coal pot dish, black-eyed peas, spinach, and pumpkin core, as well as the lentil rice. The food is incredibly delicious, and my friends who joined me are also impressed. I really wish I could give it 5 stars! Updated from my previous review on March 1, 2023.
I would have appreciated a wider selection of authentic African dishes that are new to me to explore. While the vegan options were good, they weren’t anything I hadn’t tried before. I hoped for more unfamiliar dishes. Additionally, the absence of Ethiopian cuisine and injera bread was disappointing.
