May Garden - Halifax

We eat at the Halifax Casino May Garden regularly. This was our first visit to the Bedford May Garden. Food and service were really good. All food hot, generous and tasty. We will return. They do not offer desserts, odd for a dine-in restaurant.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant and was extremely impressed with the freshness, temperature, and quality of the food. It was also delicious and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and I didn't have to wait long to pick up my order.

This was my favorite Chinese food restaurant. We decided to take an out-of-town friend and his family there for his birthday. I called ahead to request bringing a birthday cake, but they wanted to charge $15 for washing the extra plates. I called other restaurants and none of them charged for this service. I ultimately canceled our reservation for 10 people because of this and they showed no concern. Unfortunately, they have lost a loyal customer.

We usually get takeout from this restaurant because of the great food quality, variety, and service. We have been enjoying their food for many years and have never had any problems.

A group of us girls went there for dinner to do our secret Santa exchange which we have done the past 4 years with never a problem. Upon arrival we were told we should have made a reservation, however the restaurant was empty and actually stayed that way even when we were leaving. It was very obvious that the staff were irritated with even putting two tables together so we could all sit together. We laughed a few times at some of the gifts and were approached by a waitress with her finger to her mouth and very loudly shhhhh'ed us. The food was of course satisfactory as per usual. We are all frequent visitors at this Location with our families, friends etc.. which is why we choose this for our yearly secret Santa dinner. None of us will be back or our families and friends as this was an unacceptable way to treat paying respectful, loyal, customers !!
