Taste Of East - Halifax

Eating was authentic and tasteful, but a bit oily for my pleasure. Nevertheless we visited twice during our trip to halifax and enjoyed the dishes we tried. there were much more meat concentrated dishes than mixed or vegetarian options, but it was not too difficult to ask or make. service was also very friendly.

Authentic northeastern Chinese cuisine. a large menu with various dressed and even daily lunch specialties available. we are often here and they are very consistent with the taste of their plate. we have the icy aubergine that is boiled in a lot of oil, but it is so worth it with pure white rice. we also ordered the squirting tentacles, which also comes in fried fish version, and the coating they have on the squirting tentacles is very unique and so addictive to eat together with the sweet. highly recommended if you want to try some northeastern Chinese cuisine made by Chinese chefs familiar with the kitchen.

This restaurant may not have put much thought into its decor, but the food truly shines! We ordered the Braised Pork Shoulder, and it was absolutely amazing—so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The Braised Beef Brisket was also exquisite. Both dishes require a longer cooking time, which is evident in their quality, and honestly, the wait is totally worth it. We can't wait to return and try more items from the menu!

The food was authentic and flavorful, although a bit oilier than I would have preferred. Nonetheless, we dined in Halifax twice during our trip and relished the dishes we sampled. There were significantly more meat-based options compared to mixed or vegetarian ones, but it was easy enough to make adjustments or ask questions. The service was also very friendly.

Highly recommend. Everything I ordered was tasty. Crunchy chicken, curried lamb, shredded pork with bean curd, noodles with bean paste and cucumber, cucumber salad. All very much on point. Great for a group. Vegetarian options available.
