They explain in detail about the products...but not about price. The store has products without MRP. We tend to think that a company store would have the best prices and quality but the fact is to the contrary. Though quality is the same, prices are much more expensive than in department stores outside in fact more than double! So if you are buying in bulk be wary of company stores...I would suggest that you visit departmental stores like Cargill or even Odel for best prices.
We enjoyed our return visit here both to buy tea downstairs and drink tea upstairs. Downstairs, the staff are very knowledgeable with a good range of teas and we purchased 500g of orange pekoe as a gift for friends. Upstairs we had refreshing plain tea and so so jaggery in a peaceful environment.
We stopped here for some hot tea and pastries for breakfast. The day we visited it was about 10:00 and the pastry selection was limited. I'm not sure if it is due to our arrival time, or if they just usually don't carry much. The tea was good. The size of the teacup was average. The pastry was good, not great, but good. They also have a tea shop attached where they sell all sorts of tea and tea accessories. I'd come here again when in town.
I visit this establishment regularly when I need to some packets of tea to take abroad but have not reviewed it for that reason. I know the place too well. However, my taking a visitor there a few days ago and in reading some not-so-flattering reviews, I thought I would chip in. One should not got to this establishment expecting a high end restaurant. It does not claim to be one. It is a basically a shop that offers a spectacular collection of tea for general and specialist use. The shop assistants and others are very helpful and attentive and can generally select a brand of tea if one describes the taste of the person for whom it is intended. The mini restaurant on the upper floor was added later. It is a quiet nook where one can get basic food such as sandwiches, two varieties of cake, samosas and similar food. This was one of the few places in Kandy where one good purchase a good, genuine Bombay Toast so I was disappointed to learn that this item was no longer available. As others have suggested, it is a quiet place where one can rest one's tired limbs after some hectic shopping. The availability of a regularly cleaned toilet also helps. Only few people work there so the place cannot handle big numbers
Popped up to the tearoom after visiting the shop downstairs here, and enjoyed a couple of good cups of tea here. There's a fairly limited selection but all the tea was good quality and the service was good. After coming from the busy Kandy Market Hall, this was a nice spot for a quiet refresher.
