Block House Winterhude - Hamburg

Very rustic local and the first block house in Hamburg/Germany. the food has been very well prepared and very tasty as always at this chain. the staff is friendly and helpful.

Don't get me wrong, I've been in Hamburg and in Germany many times and I'm used to the level that locals consider service. But this visit to Block House showed how absent can even the basic level of service be.The waiter had hard times to bring us more sauce which we asked for three times and eventually waited for almost twenty minutes. The place was full so that is somewhat understandable, but once the dinner plates were carried off from the table we seemed to be invisible. We would have wanted to have coffee and avecs, but the staff just ignored us. We ended up sitting in our booth for an hour and trying to catch the waiters attention. When we finally managed to get the attention we just wanted the check. The food is good, but the service could really use an uplift also the wine list would need some reconsideration.

The block house is a system gastronomy steakhaus. it is professionally managed, but I always lack the personal and individual touch of a gastronomic that I expect on a restaurant price level. if you don't have a problem, you get solid quality in the block house. the terrace is very nice in summer: the old trees donate pleasant shade. children are traditionally cared for in the block house. the restaurant is therefore always very suitable for a family visit.

We liked very well. very good block house quality. only the broth that there is to steak were too small.

During my recent stay in Hamburg, I had a nice dinner at the Block House. As always the food and service was fantastic. If you want a great steak, it´s the place to go!
