Some courses could gain even more clearly with some fine tuning or more elaborate accents, but this is also a very satisfying menu. The wine card, in which, except for a few more expensive bottles, more than 50 wines can also be ordered by glass. Julia Hampp, who also manages the service as an owner, also lets the guest sample before serving a bottle in full. A very exemplary approach. Read more...
My wife and I went and were truly happy we did. From the very knowledgeable service to the menu, it was a great evening. I had the steak tartar to start (nice balance of acidity) and my wife had the spätzel which were very nice. For a main we had the pan fried mullet and lamb. The latter was perfectly cooked and wonderful. There is a wide wine list on offer (all by the glass as well) so have fun. I would happily recommend to a friend.
Excellent restaurant! We had a delicious dinner with a very nice bottle of wine (from Austria) that matched great with our food. The service/personnel were very friendly and professional. We both had a 3 course a la carte and a high class bottle of wine for a very good price. Especially the price - quality ratio is excellent for both the food and the wine. The location of the restaurant and the entourage is also terrific. I would advice everyone to eat there! One of the best restaurants ever!
It was my 4th visit at Heldenplatz and it was as excellent as always. Especially for jetlaged guests from the U.S. or Asia it is a great place, because you get fantastic food and great wine until 2 a.m. in the morning.
Helden (heroes) Platz (square, place).Named after a square in Vienna and after a play from Thomas Bernhard. The 3 owners are the heroes, serving dinner from 6pm to 2am – you have to find a place in Hamburg where you can eat a full blown menu after midnight. You enter the nicely decorated place and at the walls the real heroes are looking at you: Erin B., Sully, Snowden,….Checking the wine list you will find a good selection of European wines – and you can order the bottle or they will open a bottle if you want just a glass ( our pick: a great Grüner Veltliner from the Wachau, glasses of a read cuvee from Burgenland). Great concept, explained by the sommelier (one of the owners, 30+ years in the business). We went with the menu – no problem to change a course for an a la carte option.Soft crabs, nicely spiced risotto, black feathered chicken, a great dessert. Very tasty, served in style – we did spend more than 3 hours in this lovely ambience. Not upscale (no table clothes, flowers) but very good “value for money”.
