Baci Ristorante - Hamilton

Baci is terrific. The food is fresh, well prepared and flavorful, and the service is well timed. In addition, the service is as friendly and professional as you will find anywhere. My server from last evening , Amber, is brilliant! She is very engaging without hovering, and kept those of us dining at the bar and diners at a couple tables happy, while training new staff members. I was dining alone and didn't want a huge dinner. I opted for potato and leek soup to start, followed by a flatbread bruschetta with tomatoes, parmigiana shavings, arugula and balsamic glaze, along with two appetizers: mussels (cozze) in a light Pernod cream broth with shaved fennel. Both were outstanding. I left having had a full meal without feeling overstuffed. If I had a suggestion, it would be to consider offering a couple second course or pasta dishes with a bit lighter preparation, like chicken and vegetable pasta in a white wine sauce. That is by no means a complaint. Although I am here for an event in St. Catharines (35 miles/60 km distant,) I choose to stay in Hamilton so that I get to dine at Baci. Looking forward to my next stay.

The Carbonara is the best! Many other great food choices, too. Gluten free options available. Quaint atmosphere and great service.

Caught up with old friends for dinner. Great food and atmosphere was only surpassed by the great service. We highly recommend and make sure to ask for Amber We are hoping they have Nutella pizza for dessert on our next visit

Everyone in large group enjoyed the selection they made, and some even made it through a delicious tiramisu. I had a mixed seafood casserole, Italian style with calimari, shrimp and scallops in rich but subtle sauce that made me want to come back again for the same. Excellent service

On an extended stay, we tried the restaurant a couple of times for dinner, and a few times for breakfast. I'll admit to offering an uneven rating: some of the meals were exceptional, some not so much.Of the foods that we tried, here are the ratings: ExceptionalAntipasto; Any of the pizzas; the salads; AverageTilapia; pasta bow-tie special (white sauce) ; spaghetti and linguini dishes (red sauce;) veal was rather below par, as it seemed more like steak than veal. SuperlativeThe coffee!The service! The wait staff are attentive, mindful, observant -- an unbelievable experience in dining. (Many restaurants could learn from this team)! This includes staff at breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the end, while we were not necessarily satisfied with the entire meal, we came away with a very good experience and hope to return soon to "try again."
