Our family grew up in Little Italy and Duarte's remains a family business. My dad, a senior who lives in Hamilton stores from time to time. Every time I come to Hamilton at least twice a year, I visit this market. Best fresh Italian food. Authentic butcher with meat and fish and even salt fish. The best offers are the small sub is 5.00 with three types of authentic meat and cheese. NOTE PROCESSED. This extra large bungalow is two meals for me.very fill. Fresh meatballs, lasagna and spaghetti are available and also treats. And of course we can shop in the market. My bottle of coke and large three meats and cheese and large pimples were fresh from the barrel UNDER 10.00. For the price-conscious traveler ..that cannot be beaten! Delicious, fresh and authentic!
I learned about this place a long time ago, but only tried three weeks ago. It's about 10-15 minutes drive from my house, but I've been back four times! The best value, can't be beaten. Meatballs, veal, cold cuts, crab rolls, art... everything was great!
You won't find a better value for the dollar! Great tasting, affordable, and we are made hats! They also have other things and it is quite busy, that is a testimony to this Barton Street gem.
I met a group of friends here for lunch a week ago. On one side of the business is a Portuguese Grocery Store and on the other a great lunch spot featuring a hot table. I had veal parmigiana with a bun on the side...which was tasty. You can also order pannini stacked with procuitto or italian lunch meats and many other hot home cooked offerings. Several at our table had homemade soup. Everything was well prepared and delicious and shockingly inexpensive. The staff were very friendly. They have 2 or 3 kitchen tables where you can sit and eat, but most people seem to takeout their lunch and go back to work. The place is very plain, just a nice lunch counter. We were not busy so we lingered and had a nice espresso for a dollar more and chatted.
