We were sat and ordered drinks. about minutes later our server appeared to take our...order and we still had no recieved our drinks. minutes later our drinks came. We arrived at Koi at about Our concert was at We did not recieve our food until We had other servers check on the food and said it would be right out. Our server eventually came back and said the food would be ready soon. She then appeared shortly after to offer us a free drink because our food was not yet ready. It seemed like the server had forgotten about us and our food.
Nice situation on a sunny patio in Hess Village. Started off with drinks, no rose wine even though it was on the menu, out of the other whites that were available you could only choose from if you wanted a glass the rest...were by the bottle only! We ordered appetisers and entrees. Waited a long time for the food to arrive, when it did it was the entrees. The server had forgotten about the appetisers. She apologised and said she'd go get them take our entrees back but we chose to just keep them....don't want my food sitting under a hot lamp or being microwaved while I eat my main! Her reply, oh ok?! Server seemed to be more interested in posing about the patio than actually concentrating on her job. The entrees we did eat were nice, can't go far wrong with a fried chicken dish chicken noodle dish. The manager, we think, asked if all was ok, we explained about the entrees so he offered them to takeaway on him. We had them for a late night snack they were fine.
During our visit to town with three girlfriends, we decided to check out Hess Village for dinner. It was still early, so most of the patios were quiet, and we ended up choosing Koi. The location was fantastic, but unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our experience. We decided to share a pitcher of Sangria, which was delicious, but the food selection was very limited. I opted for the tacos, which were just okay and overpriced for their size. Each taco had a large dollop of mayo on top, which was unappetizing. Our server was friendly but inexperienced, and she came across as unprofessional. When we were ready to leave, we had to remind her twice for our bills and waited over half an hour for her to bring them to us.
While in Hamilton for meetings, we were recommended to check out Hess village for brewpubs. However, on a dark and wet Thursday night, we couldn't find them. Instead, we came across Koi, which looked welcoming from the outside. The staff was extremely friendly in a laid-back manner, and we were seated in a cozy booth by a fireplace. The fusion cuisine was excellent - we enjoyed a large appetizer platter with deliciously salted edamame and battered shrimp, among other options. We also had a good glass of house white and received a very reasonable bill. Although the teriyaki chicken wings weren't our favorite, we had a pleasant and relaxing evening that was hard to leave. My husband even returned the next day for lunch and was equally pleased with his experience.
We recently moved to the area and decided to give this restaurant a try. The portions were small and the prices a bit high, but the food was decent. It's located in Hess Village, and while we would consider going back, it's not at the top of our list.
