Lava Pizza & Wings - Hamilton

I've gotten takeout and delivery from Lava at Barton on three different occasions. The pickups went without a problem. The restaurant is your typical pizzeria, an order counter where slices are on display, a visible kitchen and some stools with a counter top along the window looking out to the street. The staff was friendly.The first time, I ordered a small pizza with pepperoni, anchovies and black olives. I found it extremely salty. I almost couldn't finish it, and I was left with a headache after eating it. I had had these toppings on different, larger pizzas before and I had never been left feeling such a way.I decided to give Lava's pizza a second try with toppings that were a little less salty, so I had a small pizza with bacon and pineapple. I had the same problem. The pineapple did not help. So all in all, the pizza is inedible. Also, I didn't care for the creamy garlic sauce that came with the pizza. I found it too sweet.The third time, I noticed that they were accepting online orders, so I placed an order of 12 wings for delivery. After waiting for 45 minutes (they give a delivery window of 30 to 45 minutes), I called wondering where my order was. They claimed they didn't receive it. I'm pretty certain that I went into the Barton section of the website when I placed my order, but for whatever reason it ended up going to the Westdale location. The Westdale location didn't bother calling me to inform me that they could not deliver to my location, and it appears that they didn't contact the Barton location to let them know that they had erroneously received one of Barton's orders. So I decided to get something else elsewhere because I wasn't interested in waiting another 30 to 45 minutes for my order.The next time, I decided to call in an order, I hung up after being on hold for three minutes.This last time (and believe me, it will be the last), I placed an online order for 12 breaded wings. This time everything went smoothly until the delivery driver arrived and to my surprise charged an extra $1.80 for the use of the credit/debit machine. There was no mention of this extra charge anywhere on the website or the e-receipt I received. I paid anyway. I enjoyed the wings and the mild sauce. Probably, the second best wings I've tried so far. The free garlic bread that comes with the wings was basically just sub bread with garlic spread on them. Nothing special.To make sure the driver wasn't swindling me, I did call the store to check if it was true that there's an extra charge on credit/debit payments. They said they charge $1.50, so be warned.

I come here a lot, probably has been almost 5 years now, and spent way too much money for my own good.

We have ordered here every Friday, I ordered instead of my son. Sadly the cashier tried to over charge me not realizing that I knew exactly what he was doing as I am the one that pays for it weekly. He tried to charge the same amount we pay for the 2 extra large deal. When I told him he has overcharged me he starts decreasing the price by a couple dollars. I was still over charged at the end but thankfully not as much as he tried too. Also the pizza was undercooked and soggy!So sad we will have to find another pizza spot for our weekly treat! Definitely BE AWARE
