I had a clear look from where I sat. I saw the gentleman, prepared our food and all the other foods, pulled off a cigarette a few times and he obviously tried to be discreet. But he didn't do a good job because I saw the bright red and the smoke. No one in the kitchen area wore a hair net or a beard lining. The description of some of the breakfast offers tell you to bake beans at your meal. The beans came in this tiny plastic cup. Make the small take containers that could have a bit of sauce in them to go with your food. This is the amount of baked beans you get. And... the parts were not even the same between the people at my table. A small cup was full while another one might have been full of two-thirds. I would have preferred that they skipped the "baked" beans and put the effort on another part of breakfast. The waffles themselves were good, but you get a (from 4 sections) for the price I think was $10 or $11. All toppings would be extra. Honestly, I couldn't come by that guy smoked and cooked our food while he wasn't wearing a hair net. Yes... people probably do it in their own homes, but this is a public dining place where they must comply with the Public Health guidelines. Would I recommend this restaurant? What do you think?
We went to lunch when we drove past and it looked good. The menu was extensive, the prices are very reasonable, and the food was fantastic. The service was quick and friendly. It was only luck that we came to this restaurant and thanks to goodness that we did because lunch was perfect.
5 of 5 for... fast welcome, clean environment, fast service, delicious food (breakfast), large portions and finally...Wait for this...the owner came at the end of the meal to confirm that we enjoyed our experience.
My husband went to Dundas Valley Nature Reserve. I was hungry and we thought it was a late lunch. I ordered gyro dinner that came with full size Greek salad, and two sides. I also ordered liver and onion food to go out. Wow... I couldn't finish my dinner and took it home.
Have eaten here many times for breakfasts , lunches and dinners. We had a birthday get together and my biggest problem is that it is hard to decide what to order-they have so many good choices. We had the seniors hamburger steak, the hot roast...beef sandwich and the tuna salad sandwich. They all came with soup or salad, two sides and a drink. All of them were great, with super tastes and lots of food. The staff, here, are fantastic. Our server today was very nice, had a great sense of humour and was very patient . What a nice person she is. The owner is always friendly and often comes over to say hi. This is one of my favourite places to eat and I will return many more times in the future. Thanks West End Diner.
