The service was excellent and the owner at the end of our meal gave us a sake on the house, great hospitality, great food, great atmosphere, great value and will be back soon... great job guys!
Something got burnt at the kitchen, so it smelled horrible across the floor. Service was average and this is despite it was just us and another couple. Definitely overpriced given location, ambience and quality of food. And they have to do something with the background music, loud and odd for dinners
I have now been to Beni Shoga twice. The tasting menu (9 courses for £35 per head) is a great starting point for people who are unsure of what to order I had this the first time I visited. The second time I ordered a la carte and was once again very impressed with the quantity and quality of food. The kimchi and pork gyoza were a particular highlight, as was the coconut ice cream mochi for dessert. There is a sushi menu which I didn't sample on this occasion. I would recommend either of their cheap sakes for someone who (like me) is a sake novice. Their cocktail menu is tasty but pricey. The beer selection was pretty standard for an Asian fusion joint, and I didn't particularly look at the wine list so I can't comment on it. Service was excellent on both occasions, although the second time I went it was a bit slow as we were at the far end of the room, away from the bar and kitchen. However, the complimentary lychee sake with dessert more than made up for it! I'm not sure if this happens every time but it's happened both times I've been in. It's good value too the second time I went the bill was about £35 per head including tip for three courses and drinks, although on that occasion we didn't go for the cocktails, which I think was the key.
My wife and my first time at this restaurant. Interesting blend of Japanese and Western décor, lovely art work and well presented menu with plenty of choice. We chose the 9 course sharing/tasting menu for £35 each. Excellent! Surprisingly good wine list and at the end a pot of superb sake not listed on their main wine menu. Overall a lovely dinner and friendly staff. Definitely worth a detour to eat here whenever we are in London. Thank you Beni Shoga.
I visited beni shoga with my friends and we really enjoyed eating, I personally had the best sushi I ever had, so I take my time to make an evaluation! my personal favorite of the tower bridge roll (crabmeat, avocado uramaki with salmon and wasabi mayo and fast grilled) this is absolutely fantastic and one has to try! I never had it anywhere else, even I enjoyed the otopus balls, and the darling role, we had the huge reserve and for the price it was fantastic! the staff is very friendly and at the end of our meal we all had a free shot saki, the hospitable was great and I will be back soon!
