The food is delicately spiced, the owner and his staff are friendly and attentive. I couldn't recommend it more highly, and I've been to a lot of Indian places in the UK.
Located just a 10-minute walk away from Shimla Mirch is The Kathmandu Inn. My recommendation? Skip Shimla Mirch and head straight to The Kathmandu Inn - you won't regret it. Upon entering Shimla Mirch at 7pm, we ordered a bottle of Chablis and a bottle of water. The water arrived promptly, but we had to wait until 7:30 for the wine, which was supposedly being chilled. When we pointed out that the wine was not the year listed on the menu, we were told the supplier had changed it without informing the restaurant. We also had to wait 30 minutes to order our food, despite there only being two other tables and two takeaway orders. The food was underwhelming - the poppadoms were fine, but the tandoori mixed grill was overly salty and seemed reheated. The lamb korma was bland, and the onion bhajis were average. The bill came to £53 for two people. We were also told that we couldn't use our Tastecard unless we had called ahead to book. As a local resident, I was disappointed with my experience at Shimla Mirch - it will be my first and last visit. If you continue walking and visit The Kathmandu Inn instead, you will be pleased with the delicious food, excellent service, and overall great dining experience. While they may not accept Tastecard, the full-priced meal is much more satisfying than a discounted but subpar experience.
After experiencing slow service at Indian restaurants in both the UK and the US, we were pleasantly surprised by the efficient and attentive service at Shimla Mirch. The naan and vegetable dahl were excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting the Hammersmith/Shepherd's Bush area.
The service at this restaurant was excellent and the food was very good, all at a reasonable price. It is conveniently located on Shepherds Bush Rd. We had no complaints about anything.
This restaurant was very near our hotel and had excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. It was small, quiet and formal with white tablecloths not at all like a takeaway. We enjoyed a lamb spinach curry, aloo gobi and a chicken curry and all were very tasty. I would be happy to return.
