La Hacienda Azteca - Hammond

I did not like this place too much. I will not go back. I ordered nachos with steak and ground beef and I couldn't find the steak because it was chopped up like ground beef. I asked for a frozen daiquiri without the alcohol and they said that they did not make them. I'm not going back

Update: Gave this place another chance, and if you decide to go you’ll be in for another surprise…expect even more fees to your check. Now they charge a fee for using your credit card as a payment method. They raised their prices, and on top of that they charge taxes on that credit card fee and the tip is based off of all the fees including your food, credit card fees, taxes. 20% tip after all this has been added. Been coming to this restaurant many years, but today was very disappointing. First, we asked for a kids quesadilla meal that comes with rice and beans with corn tortilla , but they gave my child a huge flour quesadilla with pico de gallo and guacamole which he didn’t eat. Second, from all the many times we’ve been there we were never charged for chips or salsa, but this time we got charged for them. Every Mexican restaurant we’ve ever been to, has never charged us for chips and salsa when you sit in to eat. Third, the waiter guy that took our order never came back to check on our table, a waitress came to bring us the rest of our food, but hardly checked on our table to ask if we needed anything else. Fourth, we were charged an automatic 20% gratuity on our check for a table of 4. I am a great tipper, especially when I receive great service, but I certainly do not appreciate an automatic charge of 20% on my bill, because that is an optional amount that the customer should decide to leave depending on service that was received. Based on a previous review, we are not the only ones upset with this automatic charge on customer’s bills and per the restaurant’s response, it was supposed to be removed, but obviously it has not been removed because we were charged for it without our knowledge today. That being said, after today, this place has disappointed us to say the least.

Not what it used to be. Food was poorly seasoned. Even the chips lacked any flavor. Waitstaff seemed chaotic as we had five people to service our table. Seemed as though no one knew what the others were doing. Not sure if it's new ownership, or just a complete staff and menu change. Heartbreaking to say the least from what was. Hard pressed to say we'd go back.

The chips were old and the salsa was frozen. The building needs maintenance. I do not understand their high rating.

The food is not good anymore! The service always forgets something! They charge you the tip on your bill!! How do they know if someone wants to tip them so much!? The service is declining! They need more fans because there is a lot of smoke! One comes out smelling like pure oil!! As I said before, the food was good, I went on 7/21/24 and I won't be coming back, it has lost its essence! Apart from that they make you wait almost an hour to give you a table! When there are empty tables!
