Mango Mangeaux - Hampton

I visited this restaurant with my elderly mother for a meal following a funeral. Unfortunately, we arrived 10 minutes before it opened, and the staff made a woman in her 70s wait outside in the cold.

The vegan options are quite limited, but the dishes available for everyone are well-prepared and executed.

The vegan gumbo was truly the only completely vegan option available, apart from the sides, but it was so incredible that I would return here time and time again just for that dish. Everything was cooked to perfection, and it had just the right amount of spice for someone like me who is sensitive to heat.

I love the atmosphere and the decor of this place. The drinks were amazing and they had so many options to choose from. Not many vegan options besides the gumbo which was fine. You could probably make something vegan but you’d have to take a lot of ingredients out. I’d go back just for the drinks.

I'm still trying to secure a reservation, but I've heard that the food is fantastic. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the option for indoor-outdoor seating. Next time, I plan to arrive early at this popular local eatery that's famous for its incredible brunch menu. On Sunday, there was a two-hour waitlist, and I spoke to some people who were waiting outside. Wow, if folks are willing to wait two hours for a meal, it must be an amazing experience and delicious food they’re anticipating. Now I'm really curious!
