Lingyin Temple Vegetarian Noodles

Mindful eating, on the stairway to heaven. The restaurant is part of the temple complex, and a hearty, spiritually uplifting meal was just what we needed in preparation for our ascent of the hillside and visits to the different temples at each level. We had noodles with vegetables (15 yuan), noodles with veg and mushrooms (18 yuan), and sides of tofu (10 yuan) and bamboo shoots (12 yuan). All the food was light, tasty, and sufficient. You place your order and pay as you go in, and you are given a ticket. You collect your food when your number comes up. It is a busy, friendly, happy atmosphere, light and spacious. We enjoyed our lunch very much and would love to go there again.

Tried all the different types of noodles. It's good to find vegetarian food. Actually nearby still have other vegetarian food but I only saw that after eating the noodles.

This noodle house is actually inside the Lingyin Temple, which is inside the park so we had to pay the two admission fees. The noodle house is to your right when you walk in the temple gate with a small sign that says vegetarian noodle house in English under the Chinese characters. You line up to order one of the three noodle dishes (15 rmb each) such as longevity . Ours included noodles, mushrooms, bok choy and we paid an additional 12rmb for braised tofu. Noodles are made by the monks that live and work at the temple. After you order you get a number that is listed on a screen when your food is ready. While you wait you need to find a seat at one of the shared tables. It was definitely a Delicious meal especially as it was pouring rain. It was also a rad experience for us as American travelers in China. The temple and garden are beautiful and serene. The dining hall has signs posted telling people to be quiet, which I believe resulted in a lower volume then might if otherwise been experienced.
