It goes beyond the standard vegan options, showcasing the chef's creativity to provide an exceptional culinary experience. This restaurant definitely deserves a Michelin star!
The restaurant offers a variety of delicious vegan Chinese desserts, along with great food and excellent service in a quiet seaside setting. While prices may be on the higher side, the overall dining experience justifies it. A meal for two with dessert cost about 250 rmb.
The Lakeside Veggie in Hangzhou stands out as one of the top vegetarian/vegan restaurants in the area. Situated in a picturesque location with views of the lake and surrounding gardens, this restaurant may not be ideal for budget-conscious diners. The dishes are typically more expensive compared to other places, but the quality is excellent. The interior is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. During my visit with a friend, we shared about six dishes. We particularly enjoyed the Tom Yum soup, although we had to remind the staff about our last dish that they had forgotten. We were unsure if the restaurant served beer as it was not listed on the menu. Overall, the food was delicious and the setting was very pleasant. The menu includes pictures and some English translations.
The atmosphere is safer. I went with my Denim shorts, sneakers and backpack ready for lunch before hiking and I felt out of place. The staff was incredibly polite and treated me super, as well as a patron independent. I ordered a tofu pot with Yunnan mushrooms and cabbage. It was not very large, yet it has a much extra taste, but something about the way it was cooked in a kind of soybean broth, brought the natural flavors of vegetables so that I really enjoyed it. I also had the avocado salad that had some cubed fresh tomatoes and really thin pieces of dried seaweed. It was good, but the dressing was absolutely SWIMMING in wasabi. If you are as sensitive to Wasabi as I am, be careful. It's because of this salad that I ordered one side of rice, pulled out the vegetables and left as much of the dressing behind as I could. I think the amount of food I ordered was perfect for satisfying a person. Do not expect huge portions or endless menu options such as many other vegan restaurants in China, but expect high-quality food, great service and a pleasant atmosphere that makes for a very nice culinary experience. It is also very easy to find this place. The marker seems to be right on the target.
The location is EXACTLY where the map shows. Had a great meal there. All delicious. Extensive menu with English. Premises are huge, decorated, surrounded by walls (Many Chinese Vegan restaurants are so big... Guess they make enough profit... A must addition to your plans of strolling West Lake.
