I highly recommend this place; I'm truly impressed by the stunning architecture. A big shoutout to the culinary team as well; the dishes were not only delicious but also made for some great photos!
From the beginning, booking was complicated—using the gift card was challenging, and the staff's knowledge appeared inconsistent. We had to make our reservation in person because the online system wouldn’t accept the gift card. Our stay started positively with a lovely dinner, but things took a turn the next morning. During breakfast, we were treated rudely by Tanya, a staff member who seemed suspicious of us and insisted that we pay immediately before we had even finished eating. The bill was incorrect, as the discount promised by the general manager, Bill, had not been applied—this was Tanya's mistake. When I tried to address this, the staff dismissed our concerns, refused to let us speak with the general manager, and even threatened to call the police. After much distress, we eventually settled the bill with Bill, who apologized for Tanya's behavior and applied the promised discount. However, the damage was done. I reached out to the owner to share the details of this event, but my concerns went unanswered. Our special stay was overshadowed by unprofessional and discriminatory behavior, leaving us feeling unwelcome and stressed. I hope JWH takes action to address these issues to prevent future guests from having a similar experience. Our time there was far from the high standards we expected, and I urge you to train your staff to ensure that all guests feel welcome at this establishment.
Typically, I'm used to meeting the owner, receiving a tour of the property, and enjoying casual conversations over breakfast with them. I was expecting a communal snack area or a well-stocked fridge. While there was a fridge with water and a coffee station, I don't recall seeing any cream or sugar. Unfortunately, there wasn't a common area for guests to relax; it was just our room. I wasn't shown around, so perhaps there was another area that I missed? Given how exceptional the dinner food was, I was disappointed by the lack of breakfast options. All guests received the same small pastry, a parfait, a slice of quiche, and coffee or tea. I learned that the following day’s menu would offer a different pastry and quiche, but still no other choices. To be fair, the food wasn't bad at all; rather, the overall experience didn't reflect the charming, cozy, and welcoming bed and breakfast atmosphere that’s typical elsewhere. Then again, maybe my expectations were simply too high. Additionally, my daughter was supposed to join us as a third guest, but she opted out, which was fortunate since our room didn’t have accommodations for her despite my specifying three guests at the time of booking. We were also supposed to receive a discounted three-course dinner for staying there, but when the bill arrived, that discount was not applied. It feels like the inn prioritizes the restaurant over the accommodations. Overall, it’s a lovely property, but my experience was not what I had hoped for.
Excellent food and service. (Did not stay overnight.
2nd time I've gone there and the food is awesome you can close your eyes and pick something and it's elite.
