With my partner and dog too. really great eating and a cozy atmosphere. dog-friendly pub. the renter and the renter couldn't do enough for us, they really made us welcome. the food was cooked to the house, delicious and in generous portions. her hospitality really did our day. highly recommended.

Beautiful little discovery! drove past around 8 o'clock and thought we would dip to see if they did where still food served. the steak and ale-caserole ordered. I have never seen so much steak, absolutely tasty, the portions are great! prices very reasonable. real chips! country pub, slow pace live with friendly locals. beautiful experience. dog-friendly.

Had a great night here tonight. roaring fire; friendly renter, beautiful young barman and proper homemade food. what can we ask? I wish we had not waited until the last night of our stay in the village was to try it. we'll make a nice evening, thank you.

Friendly service, fine Cask-Ales and a very good meal. we had beef-in-beer and chicken and hamcake, both excellent with good portions. cooked naturally freshly cooked to the best restaurant standard. the generous puddings (especially the obstkuchen and the cheese wensleydale) rounded off this good meal! an ideal place to finish a walk in the dales.

I had to laugh reading the last negative review. I was having drinks with my nieces when the hen party arrived, who were in fact in my opinion very drunk and abusive. I do not post often on TA but having spent my time working in hospitality for many years I don’t blame the owners for turning them away. I had a feeling they might post a bad review hence me posting my own experience. I had a great meet and greet on arrival by the two ladies behind the bar and we were made to feel most welcome. The food was excellent. It takes a while for the food to come and the waitress did say explain that but everything is homemade and cooked fresh, no frozen veg here! The veggie lasagne was a hit with my nieces and I had their fish lemon sole and caper special. You do have to book to reserve a table as they don’t have many tables and it gets busy with diners.
