This is a modest but spotlessly clean restaurant on a busy Harrow road. It'd be easy to walk past and not noticed the place. My partner is vegan so it's important that we can both have a good amount to choose from on the menu, and a little bit of research on the web led us here. While already a vegetarian restaurant, the vegan options aren't totally clear on the menu. Thankfully the waiter was completely on the ball, showing the (many) options available and which dishes could also be customized to suit. We ordered a mixed selection to start, and the non vegan items were brought in on a separate plate. I'll admit that this South Indian style of cuisine is mostly new to me so I'm not entirely sure what the individual items were called, but we wolfed everything on that plate with wide-eyed enthusiasm. The mains were equally delicious and I still can't get over how much depth of flavour there was in my vegetable and paneer curry. I'm so used to a bland, stewed mixed vegetable side dish in a standard high street British Indian that the curry presented here was a genuine revelation. A special mention must go to the rice. It was apparently a standard pilau according to the menu, but it was anything but standard to me. Again, with a regular high street curry house you might get a couple of cardamom pods and a touch of turmeric for colour, but this was something else. It was infused with such delicate and surprising flavours, I was actually disappointed with myself for being full and unable to eat more! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
There are very few places that can serve masala dosa for a Jain person like me, even in India. I couldn't believe it, but this place can serve you a masala dosa even if you are Jain, made with matuki (plaintain raw banana). That's the best part. The food and service are just alright. But for Jains, I recommend trying their masala dosa. Make sure to call ahead and check if they have the Jain masala available, as they may not always have it.
Very welcoming and friendly service, food order was on the table quick. The restaurant was clean and the tables were cleaned quickly after customer had left. The staff also came and asked how the food was /if we wanted anything else.
Sri Rathiga is a restaurant that specialises in excellent dosas and medu Vada. The choice of South Indian dishes is great and the food is also tasty. The rates are affordable and the decor and general ambience is okay.
