The food was nice but we were charged $46 service fee which we were not expecting and so this was a disappointment
Timeless iconic classic that seemingly everyone has enjoyed, over the years. Now, sadly, on the list for redevelopment into flats, I believe, this long serving bastion of the community is, outrageously, soon to be no longer with us. Who hasn’t parked up in Old Redding car park and had a drink in the beer garden on a hot summer’s day/eve? Whilst the views from the proposed flats will no doubt be spectacular, this fantastic piece of local history will be sorely missed.
Thankyou open table, you sent me 2 emails saying that my table was booked for a special 80th birthday. We got there and the pub had shut down!!!!!! No where to go with elderly people on a Sunday lunch time. Awful service.
Went for Sunday lunch to the Case in Altered in Old Reading. Pretty busy gastro pub. There is a more limited menu in a Sunday but still good choice. The chicken roast was a bit small for a hungry person but fair price for what you get which is a nice tasty quality plate of food. Lamb is better value as you get a sizable leg. For me I had fish and chips and that was lovely. Not too much batter and came dressed in a pretend newspaper. Little touches which make the difference. The staff were great which really was the best part- the manageress (Maria) made us very welcome even though we have never been there before and made a real fuss of both Mum and Mother in Law who not gone out much since Covid. (It was busy but they still got out food to us within less than 30 minutes too). Will go again and hope it less busy so can hear yourself speak!
