Agave Grill has pretty good food and overall it 's a neat little establishment. I 'm still surprised they don 't have the ingredients to make a rumchata, but I can overlook that. What I can 't overlook is the terrible waitress my husband and I have unfortunately had the past two times we 've visited. There is a dirty blond haired waitress with glasses who keeps passive aggressively rushing us out the door by clearing away our table. The previous visit, she asked my husband if he was done eating, ignored his response (he was not done), and took his food away. This most recent visit, I was literally mid bite and she took my plate away she didn 't even bother asking. I don 't understand why she was in such a rush. The place wasn 't even half full, it was middle of the workday (the restaurant had only opened a couple of hours prior to our visit), and we were eating at a normal pace without having an hour long conversation. This waitress needs to be retrained to have basic manners and asking very simple questions: Are you done eating? May I take your plate to clear some space? And she needs to actually listen to and respect her customers ' responses. However, seeing as how her behavior has gotten worse between these two visits, and we 're probably not the only ones getting such treatment, this waitress is past hope and needs to be replaced immediately.
I stopped in yesterday before the Uconn game and my entire experience here was above beyond what I expected ! Even though it was completely packed with people, the service was beyond Excellent, the food was on point, Very Fresh Flavorful and the prices were extremely reasonable for the Big portions you get ! Ken the owner his son Chaz were also helping out wherever they could to make sure everything was flowing smoothly and to make sure everyone was satisfied ! Our server Jessica did an Amazing job as well ! Thank You to Everyone at Agave for an exceptionally Great time !
No bueno! Awful, loud, Spanish rap music playing for 5pm dinner service. Our server was very attentive and friendly but didn't ask how our meals were and if we were enjoying the food which we did not. Chips were a bit stale, salsa was very hot and lacked flavor other than hot spice lots of pepper seeds in the salsa. Taquitos and empanadas tasted like they were straight out of the freezer and not made from scratch and were VERY salty. Flautas were bbq inside which didn't seem to blend well with the cheese and other things that were piled on top. Mexi rice was basically white rice with adobo and corn- no taste, no spices, bland, dry. Chimichanga was open ended like an enchilada and seemed baked not fried. Also salty. We ordered a passion fruit margarita for 2 and it had so much passion fruit syrup in it, I couldn't drink it. Nasty! Ordered a beer and it took a long time to get to the table. Bill was $98. Overpriced garbage food. Very disappointed.
Their Saturday brunch was real nice and their drinks were good. It is a quiet brunch location which was nice for catching up with my fellow guests. They have an exhaustive tequila selection.
