Travellers Rest - Hartlepool

Friendly helpful staff and atmosphere. Food was lovely and service was very quick. we will be back as there's a good choice of food for everyone.

Sticky tabled, two lots of music playing at the same time, generally strange place. Ordered meal and when arrived they informed they had no garlic bread; nothing offered in replacement. Strange as we had payed for a meal with garlic bread and it seems reasonable to get what you pay for.

Had a fabulous festive meal on 19 December. It was so good we went again tonight, it was just as good. Thanks to all the staff.

Made a booking for two via the pub website arrived on time. We were shown to our table, browsed the menu went to the bar to order. All going fine so far. After waiting at the bar for about 10 mins a staff member noticed that I had a menu in my hand said rather bluntly “the kitchen’s closed”. I explained that they’d accepted my booking and actually shown us to our seats. The staff member asked if I’d booked in the morning and when I explained that it had been in the afternoon when I’d booked she replied “Well that’s it then. I don’t have any kitchen staff”. I absolutely get that unforeseen staffing issues happen and my low rating isn’t for that. It was the blunt manner in which the staff member (whom I think may well have been a manager) delivered the message to us with no apology and zero empathy. Shocking service.

Great for tea some great offers and always happy to help. Cailum makes the travellers rest with his great service ! Well done to the team in there but massive thanks to this man for his work I’ll be back again because how well the service was
