Unico provided a truly unique dining experience. Everything—from the concept and design to the menu and the cooking—reflects the vision and dedication of the owner, Brian Sernatinger. Until yesterday, I hadn't realized just how much that commitment permeates the experience. Initially, it seemed limited to the front area, but the outdoor lunches are equally delightful, featuring incredibly delicious dishes. The staff is hardworking, friendly, and attentive. The drinks were served promptly, and highlights included the fenders and the exceptional cochinita pibil, which is a must-try dish. Everything we had was remarkable. Oh, and don’t forget to save room for dessert!
We visited this restaurant the day after Valentine's Day, so it was quite peaceful. We really loved the atmosphere, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. I could easily eat a dozen of those octopus empanadas. My wild boar ragu was excellent, and my wife's steak frits were cooked to perfection. The drinks were also impressive. We are looking forward to enjoying this neighborhood gem again very soon!
I drove to unico a million times, but I never took the time to go in or look up them, as they are always drawn blindly. on a Friday night I decided that my wife and I go and try out unico as we needed a change from the restaurants on hartsdale ave. we go in and were asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) but at the bar a place was offered. the place was fully booked and there were literally four people who served in the evening. the host also acted as server and barkeeper and she made an amazing job and was extremely efficient. my wife tried her pineapple margarita and called her the best margarita she had and announced she could drink ten of them. we started with the muscles and oktopus empanadas. the muscles were huge, plump and had great taste, but no brot or strength was given. the otopus empanadas were unique and tasty, but could have used a sauce. for our net I got the cadjau ravioli and they were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. my wife got the steak fries with pfefferminz and she loved it. for dessert we got the deconstructed almond cheesecake and it was one of the best cheesecakes, none of the best desserts we ever had. we loved the place so much we went back the other night with my parents, but this time we had a reservation. we had the muscles again, but this time was given a lot of broth. we also got to garnish the garlic that had a garlic stamp despite them, but the portion size was a little small. for our head we have the duck, mahi mahi, ripen and steak frit. everyone loved his dishes and ate everything. for dessert we got the cheesecake again and we also tried the brotpudding. the pudding was also delicious and unique with its use of ipa beer and caramel sauce. unico has a great service, great eating and has a unique menu that uses fresh ingredients. my only quality is that the pricing is fair, but seems strange for something from the central ave. do not let the closed blind scare you, give unico a try
Fantastic food, great drinks, fast and respectful service. The menu is very unique. Pleasant chill vibes too. Will def go again.
