Gold Post Sandwich House - Hattiesburg

Great comfort food. Love the fried chicken salad, shrimp poboy and the sliced beef (brisket)! Baked beans and potato salad are legit as well. Never had anything here that wasn 't good. Great laid-back atmosphere with a very regular crowd, which says a lot. I come every couple weeks at a minimum.

One of my favorite local Hattiesburg restaurants for the past 25 years is the Gold Post! Their po-boy bread is authentic, shipped daily straight from New Orleans, and the house salad dressing is local famous. I recommend any of the Po-boy sandwiches, all the salads, and both the red beans and rice and the seafood gumbo. It's a perfect spot for a quick, casual lunch at a very reasonable price!

Historic burger and gumbo joint.... Well run and wonderful food.... seafood gumbo uses blond roux and therefore surprisingly light and delicate.... nice change in our part of the world

I love it! The food is good! And the people are even better

When we come to Hattiesburg this place a on our list, it's been here since at least the 1970's that I know of.
